Choosing the Right Nursing Home
Aidan Healthcare wants to assist our residents and families to have confidence and comfort in their care decisions. Although we have no specific endorsement of any specific checklist or information source, we feel these may be helpful as starting points.
There are many online sources of information about how to select the right Nursing Home and the many factors that should be considered. The checklists from the Oregon Department of Human services and AARP approach evaluating a nursing home from a slightly differing perspectives, but each are helpful in bringing to mind those things that may be most appropriate in your situation.
The primary concerns that every site agrees upon are:
- the location importance for the resident or family
- specific health issues or care needs
- social, spiritual needs or activities
- quality of the care is evident and verifiable
- clean, comfortable, safe facilities
- residents and staff interact comfortably
